A time to make friends: XENOS trains World Cup Service ambassadors

Tuesday, January 24, 2006

Hospitality and service orientation are a main focus of the Federal Government’s sixth World Cup progress report. Part of the report is a XENOS project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

FIFA World Cup 2006 kicks off in around 140 days. Visitors from across the globe are to feel comfortable and well looked after in Germany. Hospitality and service orientation are a main focus of the Federal Government’s sixth World Cup progress report, which was presented before and adopted by the Federal Cabinet on 18th January.

Part of the World Cup preparations presented in the report is a XENOS project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Starting in February, this project will train more than 6,000 employees from the German service sector as "World Cup Service Ambassadors".

Those who deal with and look after many foreign World Cup visitors in their jobs shall adjust quickly to foreign cultural circles and be able to bring the World Cup motto “A time to make friends” to life. For this reason, the training focuses on imparting intercultural skills, sensitisation to hospitality, readiness to help, broad-mindedness and respect for foreigners.

The project "World Cup Service Ambassadors" is made possible by the federal programme "XENOS – Living and Working in Diversity" and run by Deutsche Bahn AG/DB Training.
